In microwaves, the plates can be prepared much earlier than in a traditional oven (reduction of ¾ of time). Food in microwaves, does not lose its natural flavours because it boils in its own water, losing less salt and destroying fewer vitamins (conservation of the nutritive value of foods). Furthermore, we save electricity with microwaves. It’s comfortable because you cook with the same utensils you later have lunch with and neither pots nor pans need to be used, so you don’t have to wash them afterwards. Since you defrost quickly, bacteria are avoided and you can prepare deep frozen foods quickly . Cooking in microwaves is more efficient. Lastly, microwave ovens are very safe as there are no flames, heat sources or heating elements the user can accidentally touch during cooking.
In the electronic and Touch control models a defrost by time function is available which varies the power for a more efficient defrost. In the mechanical models defrosting is always done with a fixed power level. To activate defrost by time, just press the defrost button twice, introduce the defrost time and finally press the Start or On button.
The automatic defrost by weight, available in all the electronic and Touch Control models, calculates the time necessary to defrost the food depending on its type and weight. To introduce the type of food, just press (+/-) buttons: F1 – Meat F2 – Poultry F3 – Fish F4 – Fruit and F5 – Bread. Afterwards, specify the weight turning the rotary knob and press the “START” button. The microwave will start working. When the microwave stops, it will beep. The quick defrost prevents bacteria breeding.
The browning plate placed over the integrated rotary turntable of the compact microwaves guarantees crispy and even cooking results. It is a healthy and easy way of cooking: you can fry all sorts of food by only using a spoonful of oil and without having to turn over the food. The door can be opened in any moment during the food cooking, cutting the supply of the microwaves instantaneously and maintaining the time setting until the door is closed again. Teka microwaves have 2-3 chips (micro-switches) depending on the model to prevent the oven working when the door is not well closed.
Apart from the outer glass, built-in Teka microwaves also have an inner glass instead of a polythene plate or slide, providing a better finish.
Teka microwaves have two microwave outputs (mica plates) both above and below the magnetron aerial or antenna. This system spreads the heat inside the foods more evenly since they emit the microwaves from two different points. It complements the action of the integrated rotary turntable and minimizes cold zones.

The ventilation system is consists of two fans: one for the transformer and the other one for the grill.
The built-in Teka microwaves are equipped with a fan which allows efficient ventilation not just of the inside but also of the more critical components. Teka built-in microwaves come equipped with a tangential fan situated in the upper part, which creates an air flow (efficient ventilation both from the inside and from the critical components) which extracts the vapours and hot air generated during cooking to the front instead of to the back, reducing the spread of heat to the furniture and improving the output and useful life of the appliance. Thanks to the forced ventilation system the cooking results are improved and condensation in the microwave oven is reduced. Furthermore, the fan stops when the door is opened in the new Teka models for improved safety and comfort.
The turning of the plate during cooking ensures a more even distribution of the heat throughout the food, thereby cooking faster. The fact that the rotary turntable is integrated means rectangular trays may be used without having to stop the plate. It is easier to clean since it has no parts which stick out, making cleaning more difficult. The integrated rotary turntable uses the available space more efficiently as it makes better use of the dead spaces of the oven.
Teka has developed a new incandescent 20 W power lamp, which lasts 10 times longer.
The magnetron is a device or electronic tube which emits the microwaves. It is consists of an anode (or plate), the filament (also called heater), the cathode, the antenna and the magnets. It is the nucleus or the heart of the microwave oven.
Dielectric mineral (silicate) easily divided in sheets. It is used as a dielectric and electric insulator for high temperatures. The mica plates isolate the waves outlet (exit) of the magnetron and so they must not be pulled off. If they were pulled off, sparks could be produced and the microwave oven could be damaged. Concerned by the user’s security, Teka has applied warning stickers to the microwaves, reminding users of this aspect.
They are electric devices which use a magnetron to emit microwaves, non ionizing electromagnetic waves of high frequency which penetrate food, giving the molecules energy and producing heat. That is, the food heats from inside and not from outside (as when we heat them to the fire) . As the temperature inside the food never exceeds 100 º C, it doesn’t burn. What we do is to boil the food instead of roasting it.
These microwaves incorporate a grill. The grill browns food until the dishes are perfectly cooked. The grill consists of an electric heating element situated in the top of the microwave which emits a dry heat to brown food. It is ideal for cooking poultry, meat or pasta.
Pop in-up knobs improve the aesthetics of the oven, softening the front; they are more durable and make the cleaning of the control panel easier, eliminating dirt traps and places hard to get at while avoiding accidental use. Moreover, since they can be hidden, they are protected from steam etc.. For make them appear again, just press softly.
Quartz is a piezo-electric mineral which produces electric currents when pressure is applied. The quartz grill of Teka microwaves is integrated in the upper part of the oven, over a grid which enables the oven to cook faster than standard grills, reaching the required temperature sooner, which is why they consume less energy. It cooks and browns fast and easily. Furthermore Teka microwaves with 1000 W Quartz grills are safer and as they are flush with the top of the oven, over the grilling area and are easier to clean. Moreover, they are self-cleaning, since the high temperature of the grill (quartz grills can reach temperatures of 150º) vaporizes grease and other residues. The models with a quartz grill have, as a standard accessory, a special grid to bring food closer the to the grill and get better results.
Radiation is any type of energy which spreads in form of waves through space. There are two types of radiation: a) non ionizing- they increase the temperature of the molecules without separating them (visible light , radio waves radio and television waves, microwaves ,etc) and b) ionizing, which stimulates alterations at a molecular level without increasing the temperature (ultraviolet light, X rays, gamma rays, photonic energy etc). The non-ionizing radiations are not cancerous. All the Teka microwaves have a grating or a grille in the inner side of the door which prevents radiation escaping from the cavity. The official norm establishes a maximum of 5 Mw/cm2 of radiation leaks but Teka has voluntarily reduced it to 1 Mw/cm 2 in practice.
The safety block option of Teka microwaves is especially designed to contribute to the user’s safety and to avoid accidental adjustment or starting by children. It is activated by pressing the Stop button for 3 seconds. At the end of this time, a beep is emitted and the display shows 4 lines, blocking the microwave. To connect the microwave, just press the Start button for 3 seconds.
Teka microwaves have 2 safety thermostats: one in the grill and the other in the magnetron.
The safety thermostat in the magnetron controls the temperature inside the oven and disconnects in case the magnetron overheats.
All the stainless steel versions have fingerprint proof treatment of the same type and colour scheme as the rest of Teka home appliances. This way, Teka guarantees a perfect match with other appliances and easier cleaning thanks to the protection which the fine film applied to the stainless steel surface provides.

It is a control system through tactile sensors which are activated with just a finger, allowing you to select the different functions: cooking memories, defrost by time and weight, cooking functions, etc.
The turntable stop function allows you to cook with recipients of different shapes and sizes, taking advantage of the whole volume of the microwave.
18L models of the Teka range, both integrated and free standing can be installed in a 60 cm width upper kitchen unit as they have a depth of 325 mm. This way, Teka increases the possibilities of installation to offer a greater number of solutions.
